Internet prices are increasing, although Spain is not one of the most expensive countries to have fiber at home. One of the latest studies shows what prices are in the world, so it is a good way to know if Spaniards pay more than necessary compared to other countries.
A latest study by Picodi Spain analysts has reviewed the rates of more than 350 operators from up to 85 countries around the world, including Spain. The most striking thing of all is that the average speed of our country is above many regions.
The price of Internet in Spain is not the most expensive, and that is a positive thing, but it is not in the top of the cheapest regions either. A fact that this latest study reveals, but so that you can get an idea, we will tell you what the rates of the best-known operators in Spain are and their respective prices to have fiber at home.
The average price for 100 Mbps
One of the first points that this research analyzes is based on Internet rates with 100 Mbps. First of all, we must bear in mind that, in most operators in our country, it is already very rare to find a rate with this speed. And it has now become normal that the minimum speed is 300 Mbps. Although you can still contract some plans:
- 100 Mbps fiber for 22.99 euros per month at Simyo.
- 100 Mbps fiber for 22.90 euros per month at Finetwork.
It is clear that there are more operators in our country that continue to offer this connection speed, although they are not among the top known ones. Therefore, among the operators with the most clients, these are the companies that continue to offer 100 Mbps of fiber only.
Now, if we take a look at the comparison of this study, we can see in which countries they pay more and less:
- Most expensive 100 Mbps fiber: Norway for 75.1 euros.
- Cheapest 100 Mbps fiber: Russia for 5.3 euros.
In this case, our country would be in the middle table, pulling down this list. Although it must be taken into account that the price of this comparison takes into account the price of different operators in each region. On the other hand, it should also be noted that Spain does not appear due to the fact that the well-known operators almost no longer have 100 Mbps in their rates.
Internet for up to 20 euros?
Once again, Spain and other Western European countries, as well as Canada, South Africa, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, are left out of this list. And all because in most operators in these regions you cannot contract fiber optics for this price. Although, there are specific cases such as the following fiber rates from operators of up to €20:
- DIGI: Smart fiber with 500 Mbps for 15 euros.
- DIGI: Smart fiber with 1 Gbps for 20 euros.
- Adamo: 1 Gbps fiber for 10 euros (for 5 months, then 36 euros).
- Adamo: 1 Gbps fiber + landline for 10 euros (for 5 months, then 42 euros).
- Fibritel: fiber with 800 Mbps for 14.90 euros (in the first year).
- PTV Telecom: fiber with 1 Gbps for 19.95 euros per month.
- Avanza Fiber: fiber with 300 Mbps for 15 euros per month.
Although, within the catalog of operators such as Vodafone, Orange, Movistar, Jazztel, MásMóvil… we cannot find rates that match these prices. Now, these are the speeds that can be contracted for up to 20 euros in other countries:
Therefore, as in other parts of the world, in our country you can contract an Internet rate with greater or lesser speed from different operators for up to 20 euros per month.
1 Gbps fiber in the world
One of the latest data taken into account in this same study is the price of 1 Gbps in the world. In this case, they show how in just 4 years, these rates have reduced their price. In Spain, for example, it costs 14% less, while the global average is 15% less compared to 2019.
The lowest price to have 1 Gbps home Internet is in Ukraine for €7.8 per month, Romania for €8.7 per month and Russia for €9.7 per month. As for the most expensive areas, we can find that, in the Philippines, Costa Rica, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela, these rates cost around €100 or even more, as is the case of Venezuela, which has an average price of €284.
In Spain, for example, 1 Gbps is available from €30, although there are operators that offer this speed for less. The good thing is that it is cheaper than in France, which starts at €40, or Germany, which starts at €35. On the other hand, our neighboring country is also at the barrier of €30 per month.
With the previous map you can get an idea of the average cost of Internet rates with 1,000 Mbps speed.
