Android Auto allows us to carry out a large number of actions from our vehicle without having to interact with our mobile device. Google maintains a good pace of updates to be able to incorporate new functionalities that allow drivers to attend to their most important notifications without having to take their hands off the wheel. One of the latest developments came with the announcement of the implementation of Artificial Intelligence for summarize all messages that we received.

After the announcement, the classics arrived doubts about its operation, the availability in all countries and what the requirements would be to enjoy its compatibility. Now, Google has published a document on your website solving some of them.

Possible mistakes

One of the first notices that Google offers in this document is that “The summaries of your messages are generated with Artificial Intelligence, so there could be errors” also adding that we can deactivate the option if we are not satisfied with the experience it offers us from the menu itself. He has also taken the opportunity to clear up any questions regarding privacy, stating that the assistant will not record any messages, summary or interactions to ultimately train its language model.

The first time that let’s receive a message that has at least 40 words, the assistant will invite us to activate this functionality through a pop-up notification on the screen. If we click on the “Yes” button, this function will be enabled by default for this and the rest of future messages we receive. On the contrary, if we press “No” and at some point we want to enjoy this possibility, we must reactivate this setting manually and, from then on, the assistant will play the entire message, without summarizing anything.

Google states that the feature will not be available on all devices, countries or languages. Therefore, it is possible that this AI will land progressively as its operation is verified. However, it does not provide more information in this regard to know which regions and devices will actually be included. So we will have to wait for the announcements that Google makes in the different regions in which this new feature appears.

Summary messages

The main requirement that the message must meet for its summary to be carried out has to do, as we have already mentioned, with the length: it must have a minimum of 40 words. The message will be summarized once Android Auto notifies us and we press the command “Reading at the top” that will appear on the screen. Otherwise, the entire message will be read, without summarizing anything. The American company also explains that if we have several conversations from different senders or applications, it will summarize each of them individually.

To activate Google AI manually in Android Auto, we must go to the “Settings” menu, click on “Notifications” and activate the “Play AI message summaries” option.
