Two giants shake hands to advance electric mobility, Honda and Sony come together to create electric vehicles with high added value.
The news, released today Friday, is surprising, announcing that the Japanese motorcycle giant and the creator of the Playstation are joining forces to develop a new range of electric vehicles.
It is not specified at any time if they will only be four-wheel vehicles, and what is more, they leave in writing that they will be electric vehicles with high added value.
In other words, we do not expect them to launch electric mopeds or battery-powered scooters, but their products will be high-end cars and, possibly, powerful electric motorcycles.
In the official statement it is not specified if they will jointly develop cars and motorcycles, or just cars
But, we repeat, nothing is specified in the official statement, so we will have to wait for subsequent releases to find out more.
What they do say is that the first Honda-Sony vehicle to go on sale will do so in 2025, three years from now.
Sony has been working on its own electric car for a couple of years, the Vision-S, a luxurious sedan that needs a powerful partner to see the light.
Similarly, Honda hasn’t had good sales of its first electric car, the Honda E, so it’s in its best interest to get a fresh look.
It would not hurt if they jointly launched an electric Mugen that we have already seen rolling in the Isle of Man TT, or the retro electric Honda RCE that we saw in 2011…
Honda, an expert in the manufacture of vehicles of all kinds, and Sony, an expert in advanced electronics, will form a good duo that we hope will also bear fruit on two wheels.
