The Hopium Machina is a hydrogen car that has already sold 10,000 units. It has 500 CV of power and about 1,000 kilometers of autonomy.
At the past Paris Motor Show 2022, the latest version of the Hopium Machina was presented, a hydrogen car that could be considered a direct rival to the Toyota Mirai, but with a more sporty and performance approach. Hopium, the French company behind this sedan, has just sold 10,000 units after receiving an order from Crédit Agricole.
The company founded by Oliver Lombard, a racing driver who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2011, has designed this four-door saloon with an interior for up to four passengers with a sporty and highly aerodynamic design.
The interior has a floating console and a large screen (made up of several different displays) that runs the full width of the dashboard, as well as sports seats and a panoramic roof that can be made opaque at the touch of a button.

The Machina, which weighs less than two tons, has an electric propulsion system with 500 CV of power with which it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 230 km/h. They are powered by a hydrogen fuel cell with which Hopium announces a range of up to 1,000 kilometers on a single charge of its tanks.
Refueling can be carried out in just three minutes thanks to a 700 bar pressure system. In total there are six hydrogen tanks with which the Machina is equipped, which includes two large ones in the central tunnel and four small ones distributed between the front seats and the trunk.
At the moment, the Hopium Machina is a prototype, but it is getting closer to becoming a production car. It will be manufactured near the French town of Vernon, where a factory dedicated to its assembly will open in 2025.
The price of the Hopium Machina will be around 120,000 euros per unit and reservations are already accepted from 656 euros. In addition to the 10,000 orders that the company has just received, Hopium has already announced that it had another 1,000 reservations made previously.
