If you are thinking of going Interrail with your friends this summer, you may be aware that the Government has launched aid to obtain the pass that allows you to travel by train in different countries with a fifty percent discount, but how do you get this help? Below we will tell you how to request the discount for the Interrail pass step by step.
In addition to discounts on the Interrail Pass, Spanish or European young people between the ages of 18 and 30 residing in Spain will also be able to enjoy discounts on train and bus trips. We tell you how to process these discounts and aid below.
What are these aids and who can access them
Before telling you how you can request them, we will review what these aids are and who can obtain them so that you have all the complete information.
These bonuses include 90% discounts on single train tickets and round-trip tickets on medium-distance services. 50% discounts on single and return tickets for Avant services. For high speed services the discount is 50% with a maximum of 30 euros. If you are going to travel by bus, you can get 90% discounts on single round-trip tickets from the state’s competitive regular bus services.
As for the Interrail Europe Pass, the discounts are 50%, but the passes must be purchased through Renfe. These bonuses will be valid for travel between June 15 and September 15 and may be requested by young people born between 1993 and 2005, with Spanish nationality or from a European Union country if they have legal residence in Spain.
How to ask for help for the Interrail step by step
Next we will review how we can request, step by step, the 50% bonus for the Interrail pass through Europe that we want to acquire.
First of all, we must go to the website of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda.
Once inside we will have to identify ourselves with the Clave System or by filling in the Personal Data form. If we are interested, we also have the option to “extend information” and obtain more information.
If we choose the “Personal Data” option, we will have to enter our ID, the date of validity, name and surname and date of birth.
Once these data are confirmed, if we meet the age ranges established to be able to access the bonuses, they will ask us for an email and a mobile phone to be able to notify us of the status of our application once it is processed.
When this happens, they will send us a code that will be the one that we will have to provide to Renfe when purchasing the Interrail pass in order to enjoy the fifty percent discount.
In addition, in order to access the bonuses we must register at least 24 hours before the purchase, so that they can verify that we meet the requirements to qualify for the bonuses.
This code, which is personal and non-transferable, will be the same one that can be used to purchase subsidized train and bus tickets, in these cases, on the websites of the different operators.
This registry has been open since July 1, although the operating companies are still implementing changes in order to expedite the acquisition of these discounted tickets and passes.
