During a visit to the first green hydrogen production and supply plant in the Community of Madrid, in Coslada, Ayuso criticized that concern for the environment serves as an excuse to “intervene in the economy” and ban industries such as cars with diesel and gasoline engine and asks that “these decisions be reconsidered”, according to EFE.

“Faced with the totalitarianism that exploits the environment with taxes and prohibitions, what I do is a closed defense of the aspiration to prosper in freedom and always taking care of our natural heritage”, the president pointed out.

The president of the Community of Madrid has said these words against the ban on gasoline and diesel engines in 2035 during a visit to the first plant in the region that produces and supplies renewable hydrogen.

The renewable hydrogen produced in this plant, operated by HVR Energy, will serve to supply public transport companies and “decarbonise key sectors such as industry and transport”.

In this way, the Community of Madrid joins the potentialization that has been made of this energy also from other administrations such as the Government of Spain with the National Hydrogen Center (CNH2), in Puertollano, or the agreements with France and Portugal to start up the H2Med and supply green hydrogen to Europe.

For Ayuso, it is key to attend to the transport sector to move towards the decarbonisation of the economy, since “52% of direct emissions are concentrated in our region. For this reason, from the Community of Madrid we insist on transport based on clean energy”, Ayuso clarified.

Currently, the Coslada plant is capable of producing 70 kg of green hydrogen per day in its initial phase and it is expected to reach 280 kg in a second expansion. Enough energy to refuel up to eight buses.
