Mercedes-Benz is in luck: its AMG department of competition and sports cars turns 55 years old; and their way of celebrating it is, it seems, the launch of different commemorative editions. Thus, after the incredible Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series that we presented to you yesterday, it is time for a car that is no less amazing… but very different. Here is the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Edition 55”.

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Edition 55” special series commemorates just that: AMG’s 55th anniversary.

This new special series of the legendary Mercedes-Benz G-Class off-roader is limited not by number of units but by its marketing period: it will only be on sale until October 2022. The Edition 55 model is based on the most powerful version of the ‘Gelandewagen ‘; that is, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 with its V8 4.0 biturbo engine with 585 hp.

The G 63 Edition 55 offers a choice between two body colors: Obsidian black and G Manufaktur Opalite white; It sports the AMG Night I and II trim packages, mounts 22-inch AMG wheels and a chrome fuel filler cap. A protective cover for the vehicle with inner flannel fabric is also included.

The exclusive details of this limited series give the passenger compartment an air of modernity that contrasts with the “aesthetic immobility” of the bodywork.

The cabin is dominated by black (represented in part by carbon fiber trim) with contrasting sections of red such as nappa leather seat upholstery, stitching threads, door sill lighting and the inscription of the name of this special edition on the mats. The number 55 also appears at the bottom of the AMG Performance steering wheel.

The Edition 55 limited series has an extra cost of 17,850 euros over the “conventional” Mercedes-AMG G 63; so, that if the accounts come out, its rate price amounts to a stratospheric 228,260 euros.
