Summer vacation doesn’t have to be a few months where you’re just hanging out at the pool or watching all the reruns. Taking the opportunity to train can be interesting if you want to complete your profile in a certain job or if you want to change companies. Luckily, until September 30, Microsoft has free courses on different topics. And with certificate!

The Microsoft Cloud-Skills is a fun, free and interactive program that gives you access to different courses to develop certain knowledge in the position that interests you the most. It is a playful experience that uses the content of Microsoft Learn, so the agenda is prepared by experts in the field and with the recognition of being taught by a world-renowned company. Also, totally free.

If you have already completed all the free courses offered by Google for professionals and want to go one step further, it is a good time to discover what Microsoft has in store for us since June 30.

Learn at your pace

These courses are to learn at your own pace, without the need for schedules or limitations when it comes to progress. Do you want to do it in several months? No problem, as long as you finish it before September 30.

Among the themes you can choose are:

  • Identity and Access Manager Information Protection Manager
  • Security Operations Analyst
  • desktop manager
  • team manager
  • Teams voice engineering expert
  • Azure administrator
  • data professional
  • AI professional
  • Azure Developer Helper
  • Accessibility

Logically, the themes are directly related to the different Microsoft services, but they can be good options if what we are looking for is to complete our IT profile or improve our position in front of a Windows computer.

free course

The only thing you will have to do is sign up for Cloud-Skills and choose the course you want to learn. You will then see a leaderboard, where you can earn points as you complete each topic. Although you can do it individually, there are some companies that can encourage their employees to “compete” in that ranking to motivate themselves.

You will have access to all the material related to the topic you have chosen, from modules, interactive tests, video tutorials and exams to check your knowledge. In all the courses you will find more basic, intermediate and somewhat more advanced topics so that it adapts to whatever your level.

Once you have completed the course, you can leave it there and not get certified or fight to have a document that proves that you have acquired that knowledge. To do this, you would have to send an email to canadaskilling@microsoft.com with your username. Once they give you the voucher, you can take the final exam. Make sure you are prepared so that nothing goes wrong with your answers.

You also have the option of attending Microsoft Training Day, which are classes taught directly by a teacher. This will help you create a study routine and not leave the course aside. Sometimes, since it is free, many students register and never get to know the complete syllabus. If you are one of these types of people, who tend to procrastinate, it is best to sign up for classes to “force” yourself to finish the course.
