Movistar Plus+ signs an important agreement with RTVE

The RTVE corporation and Telefónica Audiovisual Digital have reached an agreement to distribute RTVE channels on the Movistar Plus+ platform. Now, all subscribers will be able to enjoy a “premium” viewing experience and have the different functionalities that Movistar Plus+ currently offers for its subscribers. We tell you all the details below.

RTVE and Telefónica Just a few hours ago, they made official a new alliance that will allow them to continue broadcasting all the content of La 1, La 2, Canal 24 Horas, Clan and Teledeporte through Movistar Plus+. This agreement will have a duration of three years and will allow all users subscribed to Movistar Plus+ to enjoy all RTVE content. In addition, it will incorporate the issuance of all territorial disconnections during the same period.

The collaboration has been signed by Elena Sánchez Caballero, interim president of RTVE, and Emilio Gaius, president of Telefónica Spain. Sánchez Caballero has thanked Telefónica Spain for “continue with this agreement, which will allow us to fulfill our public service as a territorialized institution, according to the legal mandate”. Gaius, for his part, has stated that “Making an agreement with RTVE is always a symptom of moving forward and working on the development of the audiovisual sector in this country.”.

A premium experience

From now on, La 1, La 2, Canal 24 Horas, Clan and Teledeporte, in addition to the territorial disconnections, will be distributed through Movistar Plus+ with a “premium” viewing experience. They have also stated that in all of them the different functionalities that the platform currently has will be available and that current subscribers can already enjoy the rest of the grid. Subscribers will be able to have easy access to RTVE’s offering and, in addition, they guarantee that the channel will be seen well on a delayed basis thanks to a “synchro-guide”, they have announced.

With this contract, RTVE fulfills its public service mandate in promoting territorial cohesion. By means of the dissemination of territorialized content, Greater plurality, linguistic and cultural diversity in Spain is guaranteed, having the necessary infrastructure to reach all citizens, as stated in the statement published on RTVE’s own website and which can be accessed from this link.

Telefónica’s commitment

Until the signing of the agreement, Telefónica broadcast the specific signal of La 1 in the communities of Andalusia, the Canary Islands, Catalonia, Valencia, the Basque Country, Galicia and Castilla – La Mancha. For the territory of Catalonia, the La 2 signal was also transmitted.

Thanks to this new agreement, Telefónica is committed to retransmit the specific signal of La 1, or territorial disconnections, in the eleven autonomous communities that were missing: Madrid, Castilla y León, Aragón, Murcia, Extremadura, Asturias, Balearic Islands, Navarra, La Rioja and Cantabria and La 2 in the Canary Islands.
