Movistar is notifying its clients these days of a new change in their contracts. This change will still take a while to be made, but it will affect all those customers who have contracted miMovistar or Fusión and have taken any of the devices that are included in these convergent offers. In this article, we explain what this contractual change consists of and how it will affect you if you are a customer of any of these packages.

This new rule will affect, as we say, only those customers of Movistar’s convergent offers who have a device that Movistar offers from a wide range of Smart TVs, mobile phones and others.

This is the new Movistar 24+24 rule

As you probably know more than enough, Movistar includes in its Fusion packages before, and now miMovistar, the possibility of getting devices at 0 cost or for a monthly payment that is determined by the product itself that the client has selected. This type of advantage for Movistar’s convergent packages has been in operation for quite some time, and to date these had a “permanence” of 24 months, which could be automatically extended for another 12 months.

So, what is the 24+24 rule that will start to apply from October? Basically, what this rule will do is make the permanence that the client has with his device extend another 12 additional months, which will give a “permanence” of 24+24 months. In the event that the device that the client has with this promotion is of 0 cost, he will not see his quota for the contracted device vary at any time. However, if the customer is paying a monthly fee for this device, the fee will be readjusted according to the new term of the contract.

In the legal conditions of Movistar we can see how this will apply unless the client decides to opt for two possible ways if they so wish. The first of these ways is to execute the option to purchase the Device; and the second of these is to unlink it from the miMovistar or Fusion service, going on to pay the fee without the miMovistar service or without Fusion instead. These legal conditions also explain that Movistar must notify its customers one month in advance, with the customer having the right to terminate the contract without any penalty, without prejudice to other commitments made by the customer.

Let’s take as an example the Apple Watch SE that Movistar offers with the three miMovistar packages. If we look at the website, in the section of miMovistar package devices, we can see that this Apple device has a fee of up to 8 euros for the three packages. This price is the one that the client would pay until October 28, since «as of 10/29 the conditions of the contract change. The new installments would be with miMovistar Base (€6/month), with miMovistar Avanzada (€6/month), with miMovistar Premium (€6/month) for 24 months, which will be automatically extended for another 24. The total amount will not vary» .

As you can see in the example you have just above, the main advantage of this change will be that the fee will be readjusted to the new permanence, so you will pay less per month for the device you have chosen if you have a fee. Movistar is notifying all its Fusión and miMovistar customers of this change, and they will be able to check the new conditions from their customer areas, as well as see the new device fee starting on October 29.
