The myth.

A performance version of the Lancer that marked the history of Japanese sports cars, and that initially, with the Evo I, was born exclusively for the Japanese market. This car had a configuration that would be present in the Evo throughout its life: 2-liter turbocharged engine with permanent four-wheel drive.

Although, this first assault had a power of 250 hp and a maximum torque of up to 309 Nm. Although it would not be until the Evo V in 1998 when the company would hit the table. For many, it is the best of all the Evo, and it was a car that really updated the previous one and it would be the first with an official launch in the European market. This fifth version of the Evo maintained the 280 hp of its predecessor, with 373 Nm of torque. In it, modifications in the pistons and injectors, among other elements, stood out.

Its power was maintained, and it would not be until the Evo IX when we would see an increase in its power. This Evo had 290 hp and MIVEC technology, a system of variable movement and timing of the intake and exhaust valves. Due to an agreement with the manufacturer, we did not see the 280 hp barrier overcome until the arrival of this generation, a car that would finally end its life in 2008. In the last edition we would get to enjoy 307 hp with a special version baptized as “Final Edition ”.
