The end of shared accounts on Netflix is coming to an end. In recent months, we have not stopped hearing and seeing how the company was testing different methods to stop people from sharing their accounts. If a few days ago we read how in the United Kingdom it was considered illegal to share the password, the streaming platform has it more and more clearly.

To be more exact, it is expected that, at the beginning of January of next year, Netflix will already take action in those markets in which it has not yet reached. Among them, its streaming platform in Spain. Therefore, it will be a matter of days before we see how the company pronounces itself and clears up our doubts.

In 2023 comes the end for shared accounts

The well-known streaming content service has everything more than clear: put an end to shared user accounts. Although in its beginnings, especially when it was not so well known, sharing the password was love. Now they have stopped thinking alike. Something that logical, seeing how the platform has not had the accounts for a while.

Therefore, in addition to the new formulas to continue winning subscriptions, such as its basic plan with ads, it has already prepared what the end of shared accounts will be like. In addition, in different countries, such as Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, among others, we have already witnessed the different tests that Netflix has been carrying out to stop its users from continuing to share a subscription.

Netflix plan to share account

What is clear is that, if we want to share an account, it will no longer be free. Basically, because from Netflix they have in mind that if a user wants to share a subscription with a person outside their home, they will have to pay for it. A strategy that we have already seen, and that costs approximately 3 dollars extra.

How will it work?

For this to work smoothly, the primary account user will need to give out-of-home users who pay to join the subscription a verification code. And so that the rules are complied with, the streaming content service will be attentive to IP addresses, device IDs and account activity.

In this way, what he wants to avoid is that his users leave Netflix permanently, so his idea is to gradually reduce the sharing of accounts on his platform. However, there may be a maximum limit of additional people. Everything will depend on the plan that we have contracted on the streaming platform.

According to the latest information, it will not be the same to have the basic plan as with the premium one. For example, the most basic plan (without ads) of all, will be able to have only one extra person, while the second will enjoy up to two additional paid users. Although, at the moment, nothing is clear. What is obvious is that, by 2023, the sharing of accounts on Netflix as we know it right now in Spain will come to an end forever.
