Don’t miss the F1 Austrian GP!
Formula 1 arrives this weekend at the home of Red Bull… literally. The Austrian Grand Prix takes place at the Red Bull Ring, a historic track owned by the energy drink brand, which returned to the calendar in 2014. Do not miss a thing in this sprint-qualified event: these are the schedules and information on how to watch on TV or internet you should know.
Barely five days have passed since Carlos Sainz claimed his first Formula 1 victory at Silverstone Circuit, but on a 22-race calendar there is no time to celebrate or relax. The premier class now competes in Austria, a country of great talents such as Niki Lauda or Jochen Rindt, and Red Bull.
The energy drinks team arrives as a leader in its circuit. Max Verstappen continues to command in the Drivers’ Classification, where he has 181 points and an advantage of 34 points over his teammate Sergio Pérez and 43 over the best Ferrari, Charles Leclerc. In the constructors’ championship, Red Bull leads Ferrari by 63 points.
Verstappen is the driver to beat on this circuit, as he has four victories since 2014 (also counting the Styrian GP that was held in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic), although Ferrari will not make things easy for him. And not only Leclerc, since Carlos Sainz, both in Canada and at Silverstone, offered the best version of him.
The other Spaniard on the grid, Fernando Alonso, achieved his best result this season to date in Great Britain. With that fifth place at Silverstone, he scored points for the fifth consecutive race and continued a good run in the ‘top 10’.
In Austria we will have a sprint format race again. This means that the classification of the Austrian GP will be held on Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m., after the first test session, which will start at 1:30 p.m.
On Saturday, after another practice session, the F1 sprint race will take place at 4:30 p.m. It will last half an hour and will serve to form the grid for the Austrian GP, which will start on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
