Streaming platforms are reinventing themselves to improve the user experience by adding content. To do this, Showtime, the American subscription television network, is adopting a new strategy to partner with other companies in the world of entertainment, in such a way that it will no longer be an independent brand. Do you want to know which high-impact audiovisual group he has partnered with?
Do you remember when HBO announced that it would simply be called “Max”? Well, the same thing is happening within the streaming market with other companies, although it is only having an impact in the United States, since there is still some time for these changes to reach Europe.
Online streaming apps need to merge with others to continue maintaining their reputation and not be left behind. In this way, as of January 8, 2024, Showtime will be renamed Paramount+ With Showtime, which will form an audiovisual content conglomerate to expand the television offering.
Showtime partners with Paramount+
Showtime and Paramount+ will form a new alliance to compete in the streaming market. In fact, Showtime already existed in the Paramount+ app, so the acquisition process has already begun. In this way, both the Showtime television network and its streaming application will be renamed Paramount+ With Showtime as of January 8, 2024.
Likewise, Paramount said in a statement that this merger is “fundamental for the streaming service, making it the first multi-platform brand in its segment, which integrates streaming and live content.”
As for subscribers, those who are part of the Showtime linear channel will not have access to the Paramount+ With Showtime streaming plan. Instead, Paramount+ With Showtime cable subscribers will be able to access programming online through streaming apps certified by pay-TV partners.
Is Showtime the same as SkyShowtime?
Keep in mind that Showtime is a service that is broadcast in the United States, therefore to enjoy it you need a VPN and pay for a subscription plan to watch it on your devices. In this way, this service is currently not available in other countries such as Spain. However, it should not be confused with the application that was launched a year ago in Europe, called SkyShowtime, an alternative to Netflix that brings together a large number of series and movies broadcast through the subscription channels Showtime, Paramount+, Sky or Nickelodeon. , among others, in exchange for the payment of a modest price.
For this reason, SkyShowtime is the only application that you can use to view the best award-winning series in the United States exclusively, as well as a catalog full of original productions and all types of award-winning audiovisual content, and all unified in a single space. Therefore, there are no plans to change the SkyShowtime name, but in the near future we will see if this merger between Paramount+ and Showtime includes changes in Europe or if it is simply an improvement that is incorporated into the North American servers.
