Take a look at the function that allows you to be more efficient.

If you have an older car, you probably use Google Maps as your navigator, and if you have a new car, you may also use the Google app using the vehicle’s connectivity features. It is one of the most popular, but it is possible that you still do not know about any of the uses it offers, such as the ECO route in Google Maps.

This is a fairly recent function, which was released in Europe last September, and which allows, instead of focusing on the fastest route, to choose the one that will actually mean lower fuel consumption.

The application, with all the data it has stored, can play with it to find out which is the most efficient route taking into account numerous variables, such as unevenness, the presence of traffic lights, areas where there are usually traffic jams, average speed at the one that is usually filmed in each place, etc.

It is Google Maps itself that many times by default, when searching for a route between two points, indicates which is the most ecological route by placing the logo that simulates a leaf in the option, but the results are even better if you activate it manually .

Thus, after choosing the starting point and the arrival point, and seeing the different options, you can open the drop-down menu that appears in the right corner indicated by three dots. Once inside, select ‘route options’ and next to the already known ‘avoid highways’, ‘avoid tolls’ and ‘avoid ferries’, ‘give priority to fuel-saving routes’ appears.

Select the last option and, also, then choose the type of motorization your vehicle uses, since the application also takes into account that not all routes allow for more efficient driving for each type of mechanics.

For example, for an electric car the ecological route is a route in which regenerative braking can be used and in which it is not driven at high speeds, for a diesel an ideal route is to go at cruising speed on the highway, etc.

When you select it, you will be shown the ECO route from Google Maps, under which, in addition, you will be shown the estimated amount of fuel/energy you will save if you go for it instead of the other suggestions.
