It was presented more than three years ago at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, but little else was known about it: the electric version of the CRF MX, the Honda CR Electric or CRE, is already ready.

This was confirmed in the presentation of sporting events in which the Golden Wing brand will participate in 2023. Together with the CFR450 Rally that will participate in the Dakar in January, Honda exhibited the CR Electric.

Shinji Aoyama, executive vice president and director of HRC, announced that the electric MX would already participate in competition next year, without citing which one. He also made it clear that Honda electric motorcycles will be the first to officially compete, even before the cars.

As we have said, Aoyama did not specify which championship(s) the CRE will participate in. It could well be the FIM E-Xplorer World Cup, which will start in Barcelona in May 2023.

The electric crossera employs the chassis of the CRF450, using the same aluminum double-spar chassis and Showa suspension as the latter. The liquid-cooled engine is the work of Mugen, a Honda partner who also powers the Shindens that participate in the electric category of the Tourist Trophy.
