We know that the powerful Qianjiang group (owner of QJMotor, Keeway and Benelli) has been collaborating with Harley-Davidson for some time to launch a ‘small Harley’ for the Asian market. We have seen spy photos of two different types of motorcycle: a cruiser and a naked. The pandemic and the change of CEO at the Milwaukee brand brought the operation to a standstill, although according to our latest reports it seems to be back to life.
But meanwhile, from China, one of the more than 200 motorcycle manufacturers in that vast country has decided to make its own Harley Sportster, in yet another demonstration that anything goes there.
This is Motofino, a manufacturer that will surely not sound familiar to you, like so many others from the Asian giant. Like other similar compatriots, Motofino (right off the bat, it’s not a name we associate with China…) shamelessly copies a popular motorcycle from a well-known manufacturer. In this case it is the new Harley Sportster 1250 S with the liquid-cooled Revolution Max 1250T engine. The bike in question is the Motofino Streetboy V-Maxter 300.
The engine is the V-twin QJ, but very far in displacement from the V2 of the Sportster S. In this case it is 300 cc with a six-speed gearbox. Of course, the transmission is by belt, as in the Harley.
The rims are also inspired by those of the Harley, and the Streetboy also uses an upside-down fork and a small rectangular LED headlight. Even the fender is identical, with the side reflector.
The rear is where we see more differences, since the Chinese copy has a double shock, instead of the single monoshock of the Milwaukee bike. This also forces the double exhaust to exit from below instead of above, as it does on the Harley.
As we can see, the bodywork is practically identical to that of the American cruiser, with the ‘Streetboy Motofino’ logo copying the Harley-Davidson characters on the tank.
We have already shown you what they are capable of doing in China in terms of copies of popular motorcycles. An example is the Moixiao, a ‘Chinese Panigale’ with a 471 cc Loncin engine and 47 CV. The Motofino Streetboy V-Maxter 300 is yet another.
