YouTube content creators must be careful with the music they use for the videos they upload to the platform. If the song they choose is covered by the Copyright Law, it can cause serious consequences. Luckily, a recent artificial intelligence (AI) feature in the app allows you to create free songs to use in the background of videos.

Finding beautiful, copyright-free songs to use for YouTube videos can be very complex, but it is necessary. If a YouTuber slips into copyrighted music, the content could be demonetized or even removed. Even the owners of the musical work could sue them and force them to pay a fine.

In order to make the work of its content creators easier, YouTube has added a function, which is still in the testing phase. The tool we are talking about is Dream Track and it uses AI to create original 30-second songs to use to accompany videos with background music.

At the moment, the functionality is designed for Shorts, short, vertical YouTube videos, which copy the dynamics of TikTok. Although this format allows you to publish content of up to 1 minute, the melodies generated by Dream Track last only 30 seconds. Therefore, this AI cannot be used for all Shorts.

Songs with voices of renowned artists

The best thing about Dream Track is that not only does it allow you to create instrumentals, but you can use vocals. And these will not be from just anyone, there are voices that resemble those of very famous singers. To give some examples, YouTube’s collaboration with Google Deepmind allows you to create melodies with what sounds like Demi Lovato, Sia, Charli XCX, John Legend or Charlie Puth.

In a video that the company has shared on its account on its own platform, they show the example of a ballad in the style of Charlie Puth. We leave you the demonstration below:

Google has taken care of its back very well and, to avoid discontent among singers, they have chosen voices from artists who agreed with it. As they comment in the video description, “they have chosen to collaborate on this experiment and work with us to shape the future of AI in music.”

With this agreement, the company has avoided possible lawsuits for the use of its voice without consent. A few weeks ago we knew the Scarlett Johansson’s discontent after noticing that Sky’s (ChatGPT-4o) voice sounded suspiciously like his own.

Therefore, creating a special melody for a YouTube Short is now as easy as writing an idea and selecting an artist to participate in the project. Immediately afterwards, the artificial intelligence will show a result according to your instructions, up to 30 seconds long.

The functionality is still in the testing phase. Therefore, only a limited number of users can currently try it. However, it is expected that we will all be able to use it very soon, so we will have to stay tuned for future updates to the application.

Although its developers may plan to launch it in more languages, the beta version that is available to some at this time only allows you to write prompts in English. Of course, the possibilities for creating short melodies are quite extensive. Not only because of the musical artists who collaborate, but also because of the genres enabled. These range from pop and hip hop to country and electronic.
