Although they remain far from the figures that were registered before the start of the pandemic, registrations for the first month of the year leave a positive balance. Yesterday, with the data just out of the oven, we saw which models have been the best sellers; As we do every month, it is our turn to see which have been the least sold cars in January 2023.
A total of 64,147 passenger cars and SUVs were sold last month. The figure represents an increase of 51.4% compared to January 2022, but at the same time reflects a decrease of 26% compared to January 2020.
Car sales to individuals is the fastest growing channel (46.8% more than a year ago); followed by the business channel, which has grown by 45%.
The manufacturers take this data with joy but also try to be realistic and ask to “see it in perspective since the effects of the pandemic and Filomena in the months of January of previous years distort the reality of the vehicle market in Spain”.
The LESS cars sold in January 2023
With the Dacia Sandero, the Toyota C-HR and the Seat Arona in the top three, there is not much movement in the ranking of best-selling cars.
A look at the opposite list, that is, the one of the cars that have registered the fewest units in January 2023 shows that there are no striking news compared to previous months either:
Brand and model | units |
---|---|
renault kadjar | 2 |
Seat Alhambra | 2 |
suzuki across | 3 |
DFSK 580 | 5 |
Alfa Romeo Giulia | 6 |
DFSK 50 | 7 |
Dacia Logan | eleven |
Ateca Cupra | 8 |
Dacia Logan | eleven |
toyota camry | 12 |
We have left out of this analysis all models with a sale price of more than 50,000 euros, since in this case the shortage of registered units responds more to economic issues. Also in this group would enter the brands that prefer to have few registrations in exchange for getting a plus of exclusivity.
We also do not take into account models that have been discontinued for more than three months, or electric cars that, although they are gaining market share, continue to register lower sales.
