However, one of the most popular models among users is on its way out, as confirmed by the manufacturer itself. There are only a few last units left, and when they run out, it will mean the end of the world.

It was still a stylish and beautifully designed device like previous models, but it had been fitted with that attractive and functional clock. The latest version, which is being discontinued, arrived in 2022 and was very well received.

Because of the size of the digits, it was not necessary to have the speaker on the nightstand, but in another part of the room not so close to us. Now this model is discontinued and receives a successor in the form of the recently launched Amazon Echo Spot.

Although the device renewal is understandable, the reality is that the Echo Dot could perfectly share the market with the Echo Spot. Although both devices share the function of displaying the time, the new model that has recently been launched does so in a different way. Its screen is a traditional one and eliminates the appeal that the Dot model provides, losing the good feeling that the 2022 speaker transmitted and even losing some of its functions.
As some experts mention, with the Echo Spot you don’t have the possibility, for example, to set alarms in a simplified way by touching the screen. You do get more information on the screen, such as the weather or the date, as well as the possibility of playing music in different ways, but it feels like it leaves functions behind.
This is why it is thought that Amazon would not be making a mistake if it decided to launch a new version of the Echo Dot with a clock and introduce, perhaps, some new features without leaving the original concept that the speaker has always offered. In addition to this, it should not be forgotten that the structure of the Spot itself places the digits at the top and that this format may not be so comfortable in some situations.
We don’t know how much stock of the 2022 Echo Dot with clock is still available, but Amazon has confirmed that the last units will be the last. Apart from the units they still have in warehouses that mean it is still possible to buy it, we would have to add the reconditioned versions that are also available. Perhaps, in some countries, there are still units to cover several months of sales or that the Echo Dot ends up disappearing overnight in one of the next sales campaigns that Amazon will do at some point. In Spain, if you go for the blue-grey model you will see that there are only 5 units left in stock, but there does not seem to be any problems with the white colour.
So, if you’re interested in the device, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get it as soon as possible to make sure you don’t miss out. It could also be that Amazon ends up surprising you with a new version in 2024 or 2025, but this is something that, for the moment, remains a mystery.
