Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 update with the intention of resolving issues and adding new features. Among other things, it fixes two File Explorer bugs that were giving users serious headaches, while also polishing up other annoying aspects that you will no longer have to suffer from.
As you probably already know, Microsoft has several types of updates for Windows 11. On the one hand, there are security ones, which are critical and essential. On the other hand, there are, among other types of updates, optional updates that you can install or wait for them to arrive on your computer later with the monthly patch that Microsoft releases at the right time. In this case we are talking about, KB5037853 is an optional update for versions 22H2 and 23H2 of Windows 11, but it is very important to apply it as soon as possible.
The big bugs solved
We could say that this update is, above all, highly recommended to avoid two problems that File Explorer was causing. Of course, the update solves more problems that we will talk about later, but these two are the main ones.
One of them was a slowdown of no more and no less than two minutes at startup after having marked a folder on a shared network to give it quick access. From the moment you apply the KB5037853 update, you will no longer have to worry about this again. For many users who are in the habit of using this function on shared networks, it is a relief, since it greatly reduced the effectiveness of this type of tool.
In addition to this, the other problem resolved in File Explorer is the crash that occurred in Windows when we swiped from the edge of the screen after having deactivated the screen sliding policy. It was not as problematic as the previous one, since it could be avoided by not resorting to this movement, but it is good news that it is no longer something to worry about.
Other news and improvements
In total, the KB5037853 update incorporates a total of 32 new features, including improvements or solutions to errors such as those we have mentioned. For example, the problem where part of the screen was distorted if you were playing videos in a Chromium-based browser, such as Opera or Google Chrome, has been solved. The issue where printers were causing problems when using the AppContainer tool has also been eliminated.
Users who, on the other hand, are using an email encryption app, will be happy to see that the application no longer requests the user’s personal data every time an email that is encrypted is opened. This type of problem, which reduced productivity and caused inconvenience among users, is what Microsoft wants not to be present in Windows 11 in any way. Additionally, with the update, users who have LE (Low Energy) type headphones via Bluetooth connection will be happy to see that the connect-disconnect menu has reappeared. Previously it was not displayed and was somewhat problematic.
But, as we indicated, not all new features are solutions to errors. There are also new features. For example, it is now possible to use the Windows sharing window more easily and, above all, avoiding problems. The reason for this is that a system has been incorporated whereby you will no longer close the window by mistake when you click outside of it. Now you will have to click on the new close button that has been enabled for the occasion. For its part, a new feature has been introduced in File Explorer that allows you to drag files between breadcrumb paths in the address bar. To do this you will only have to use the mouse and, as you will see, it will be really simple.
These new features are available if you update Windows 11 manually or, if you don’t, as we told you, they will arrive in a few days with the next major operating system update.
