“Continuing our long-standing collaboration with Google, Volvo Cars and our strategic subsidiary Polestar will be the first car manufacturers to incorporate HD mapping technology, starting with the recently introduced Volvo EX90 and Polestar 3,” Volvo said in the aforementioned statement.
This technological novelty will break into what aspires to become the company’s most advanced car, the Volvo EX90, and its namesake in the subsidiary company, the Polestar 3. In this way, both companies intend to promote semi-autonomous driving assistants, such as lane change or Volvo Pilot Assist, and improve its functions.
With this latest innovation from Google in its cars, Volvo takes another step towards autonomous technology, which will facilitate the introduction of “future autonomous driving functions” in its vehicles.
Thus, Google will provide location information thanks to its HD maps and both the EX90 and the Polestar 3 will have at their disposal the complete battery of sensors, cameras and radars to achieve advanced autonomous driving technology at the next level.
