SkyShowtime content has not landed suddenly as many expected on Movistar Plus+, but has been progressively arriving on the operator’s platform. On the other hand, many users still have doubts about access to this content and also about the new channel that will be incorporated into the operator’s TV service. To do this, we explain how it can be seen and what you should take into account.
Movistar Plus+ and SkyShowtime have an agreement with which the Spanish operator’s clients can enjoy the content of this streaming platform, as long as they have contracted a Fiction package. However, you must keep in mind that even if you are subscribed to SkyShowtime, you do not have access to its own app, but rather you have to use the Movistar platform or app.
What SkyShowtime looks like on Movistar
The streaming platform has a linear channel on Movistar television where you can watch some content such as SkyShowtime series and movies. It will be located on dial 29 of the operator’s TV channel grid, as it already appears on the Movistar website. Although, at the moment, it is not operational, but it will arrive soon.
However, what is available is access to the SkyShowtime on-demand content from Movistar Plus+. Either from the operator’s decoder or the mobile application. And all because the new SkyShowtime tab already appears in the Movistar content bar to see all the available productions, without having to have your own account on the streaming platform. It is only necessary to have the Fiction package contracted.
First of all, the fact that it is integrated in this way is an advantage for those users who pay for the Fiction package in Movistar Plus+. The problem is that if you have a SkyShowtime subscription on your own it will not be of any use to you, since you do not have access to the platform’s application:
«Access to the set of SkyShowtime content will be done in an integrated way, as part of the main navigation of the platform and available on demand. In addition, a new SkyShowtime linear channel will be launched highlighting its news, movies and series.
Therefore, you do not have access to your own application, unlike what happens with Netflix or Prime Video, since in these cases you do have the option to log in with your credentials. If you have, for example, SkyShowtime with the 50% off offer, it may not be worth it for you. And all because you will not enjoy options such as continuing to watch series or movies, lists or even the possibility of downloading content.
However, Movistar moderators already inform users through their community that they hope that ‘in the future it will be integrated into the decoder’. Although, for the moment, it is far from becoming a reality. And, on the other hand, customers with satellite TV will be able to access these new contents from the Movistar Plus+ app.
What content is there
