What a video!
Although we think it is a modern discipline, to find the origins of drift we have to go back to the seventies. It was created by runners who went down mountain roads at high speeds. In recent times it has become popular, but in the nineties this way of driving the car was not so well known in Spain. Pay attention to this video, so were the beginnings of the drift.
The pilot who popularized this technique in Japan was Keiichi Tsuchiya, the person to whom we owe much of the birth of drifting. He was also a circuit racer himself, and his way of going down the mountains began to attract attention. The first official competition dedicated solely to drifting took place in 1988, arriving in the United States in later years. Little by little it would be introduced in Europe.
The video that we bring you today, and that seems to have been recorded at the end of the last century, shows great beauty. And it is that it transmits the purity of this discipline, the beginnings of this very special way of driving. Going down these mountains sideways couldn’t be easy, and having the courage to do it and the necessary mastery was just from another planet. What do you enjoy!
