The DGT Pegasus helicopter that crashed last Sunday was a French-made Eurocopter AS355 N Ecureuil 2.
On March 5, a DGT Pegasus helicopter crashed in the Community of Madrid, an accident that, fortunately, only left minor injuries and no deaths. Now we know what that wrecked Pegasus helicopter cost.
Apart from the accident, the most surprising news was that the pilot of the crashed DGT helicopter had tested positive for cocaine and methamphetamine.
This helicopter is a light craft made in France and dates from the late 70s, when the first flights began. Weighing just over a ton, the helicopter measures 13 meters in length and stands just over three meters in height.

The DGT helicopter in question, which is operated by Traffic, the regional police and forestry agents, is a Eurocopter AS355 N Ecureuil 2 and is valued at around three million euros.
Specifically, the price per unit ranges between 2.7 and 3.4 million euros and, currently, there are several copies flying over the Spanish geography. Not only the DGT, the AS355 Ecureuil 2 are also used by the Mossos d’Escuadra, the Ertzaintza, the Navarre Foral Police, as well as forestry agents and various aeronautical companies.
The accident last Sunday occurred in the Madrid town of Robledo de Chavela, when the pilot was performing an emergency landing maneuver. Although the aircraft has capacity for seven occupants, at that time only the pilot and another crew member were flying.
Both the pilot and the other crew member, also a traffic officer, were slightly injured. The pilot was arrested by the Civil Guard after testing positive for cocaine and amphetamines in the drug test.
