European music is celebrating this week with the celebration of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. Last Tuesday, May 7, we were able to witness the first semi-final of the musical contest and today we will meet the other 10 countries that will advance to the final this Saturday, May 11. Both the semifinals and the final can be seen on television, from La 2 and La 1 respectively, but what happens if I can’t watch it on the television and want to watch it online? We tell you all the options that exist in streaming.
The Spanish representatives that RTVE has sent to for the 68th edition of Eurovision belong to the duo Nebulossa. This is made up of the singer María ‘Mery’ Bas and the keyboardist and producer Mark Dasousa, who will sing the song “Zorra” on the stage of the contest in Malmö (Sweden).
Although Spain goes directly to the final because it is part of the Big Five (Germany, Spain, France, Italy and the United Kingdom), in tonight’s semifinal we will see Nebulossa present its proposal to Europe. Whether you want to see her performance today starting at 9:00 p.m. or if you plan to watch it next Saturday from your computer, you have different options available on the Internet.
There may be several reasons why you might need to watch Eurovision online instead of on TV. Maybe your family wants to watch something else or you don’t have a TV. You may be caught away from home and you have to watch it from your computer or mobile, or you may be interested in listening to the voices of the Swedish presenters instead of the RTVE commentators. Whatever your situation, in this publication you will find several ways to watch the live stream online.
The Eurovision channel
The presence of Eurovision on social networks is undeniable. Many Eurofans publish content about this great European musical competition through Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X… However, the festival has its own accounts where they upload content, from interviews and news to the performances and songs of each representative.
Of all the Eurovision communication channels, YouTube stands out, since all the countries’ performances are uploaded in their entirety. On the video platform, Eurovision Song Contest has 5.91 million subscribers.
It is right in this space where they are broadcasting the live broadcasts of the two semi-finals and where they will allow you to watch the final. However, there will be those who miss the voices of Tony Aguilar and Julia Varela, since it is broadcast in the original version, without commentators.
RTVE Play
The Spanish Radio and Television Corporation (RTVE) is in charge of broadcasting Eurovision on Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) in Spain. This public channel is one of those that contributes the most to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), and thanks to this it is the one that has the rights in our country to broadcast it openly.
Even if you do not have the possibility of watching the final from your television, it is possible to access the live programming of their channels from their RTVE Play page. As we have already mentioned before, the semifinals are broadcast on La 2 and the final on La 1, so you should take this into account when choosing which live stream to watch from their website.
In fact, to prepare for the big event, RTVE has launched a Eurovision themed channel at the URL rtve.es. In it, he shows all the finals of the festival from its origins to the present day. Do you want to know how European music has evolved over time? If your answer is yes, this channel is for you and will help you calm your nerves while you wait for the 2024 final.
DTT Channels
Another option to watch La 1 or La 2 if you don’t quite understand the interface of the official RTVE website is the TDT Channels platform. This website broadcasts all the open, legal and free television and radio content in Spain. In addition to being available to view from the browser, this option allows you to access public channels from an application, enabled for both Android and iOS.
If you want to watch Eurovision from the RTVE channels, you just have to click on the “Television” section at the top of the screen. Afterwards, you will have to look for La 1 when it is 9:00 p.m. and enjoy the music that represents all the countries participating in the contest. From TDT Channels you can go to the live website on RTVE and the programming.
