The Williams team presents its new partner for 2023, but next season’s car remains a secret.

After the presentation of the Haas VF-23 and the Red Bull RB19, today the Williams team has been in charge of removing the canvas from the decoration of the Williams FW45, the single-seater with which Alex Albon and Alex Albon will compete in the premier class this coming season. rookie Logan Sargeant, who comes to Formula 1 after finishing fourth in Formula 2.

“A bold new beggining (an important new beginning)”, thus began a decaffeinated presentation of the colors of the Williams FW45. The new car has not been revealed, since it will remain anonymous until its debut on the track in a shakedown next Monday at the Silverstone Circuit, and the decoration does not change.

The new Williams will once again be decorated with the same colors as last year, with blue predominating, accompanied by black and red. The decoration is precisely the same as last season, but there is a surprise and important novelty compared to last year, and that is the presence of a new great sponsor, Gulf.

After obtaining an important presence in the races as a sponsor of McLaren the last two seasons, Gulf is now making the leap to another world champion and world-class team in Williams. The logos of the American oil company will appear on the side of the FW45 rear wing, as well as on the drivers’ suit.

More than in the colors, the changes are in the team

Although the colors of the car are maintained, Williams F1 faces 2023 with important changes. On the one hand, Jost Capito, until now CEO, has left the team and leaves the leadership of the training in the hands of James Vowles, from Mercedes F1 and until February 20 in the mandatory ‘gardening’ period.

Likewise, there are changes in the squad of pilots. Nicholas Latifi, after three years at the wheel of the Grove team cars, leaves his place in the hands of 22-year-old American Logan Sargeant. The American, who finished fourth in Formula 2 last season, arrives driven by the enormous growth of F1 in his country.

The other driver of the team will once again be the Anglo-Thai Alex Albon, who without a doubt put the team on his back last season and managed to score points in three races.

Williams F1 was the red lantern of the 2022 Formula 1 season, with eight points in total and far behind AlphaTauri, the penultimate in the table, with 27 more points. The objective of this year is none other than to grow to fight to leave this last position.
