Are you suffering daily exhaustive battery consumption on your laptop after upgrading to Windows 11? You’re not alone. Many users have complained that the life of their laptops should be longer, as specified by the manufacturer. But after the transfer to Microsoft’s latest operating system, the reports have only increased and now the company is testing some configurations to reverse the situation. Everything involves deactivating one of the functions that consumes the most battery.

It is well known that laptop batteries usually do not last very long. What’s more, after a short time they tend to reduce their energy if they are used for a long time, in such a way that their life cycle is about to end and they are crying out for a replacement. But if we also add the inclusion of certain settings that are activated by default in the Microsoft operating system, the health of the battery will decrease more quickly.

Therefore, a large number of users have felt affected by this cause and have asked the North American company for a solution, which is currently carrying out tests to solve the situation. Thus, on June 20, the launch of a new update was launched for all those who are using the beta version of Windows 11 and, for this occasion, a solution has been included to increase battery consumption.

How to avoid high battery consumption in Windows 11?

Normally, Microsoft releases new configurations in its testing platform that testers explore to alert the user community of important features. Specifically, a Windows enthusiast tweeter has shared on his social network X (Twitter) a function detected in the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26241 update that significantly improves battery consumption.

Without a doubt, the laptop screen causes excessive battery consumption and when we increase the brightness, the situation worsens. It is for this reason that Microsoft has implemented the possibility of disabling HDR technology to save energy in Windows 11.

The procedure for disabling this tool on Windows 11 laptops is as follows:

  • Go to Settings from the Start menu.
  • Click on System and then on Power and battery.
  • Next, select Power Recommendations and disable HDR to save battery.

Objective: improve energy efficiency

In this way, the hardware and software company would be preparing for the arrival of the new Surface laptops that will have an OLED screen with HDR attached, which will involve quite significant energy consumption. In fact, this situation could be affected for the user when it comes to working and performing tasks with their devices, so it is possible that a balance is being considered in the use of laptops to enhance efficiency.

Perhaps this is a good step to encourage battery savings in our laptops, with the main objective that this type of electronic devices can last longer over time and we do not have to spend more money in the short term.
