I have been an O2 customer for several years now and over time I have discovered a few tips that have allowed me to improve the quality of my connection when I noticed that it was slower than usual.

Regardless of the company we have contracted, there are many factors that can cause our smartphone to not have the coverage it should at a specific time. The explanation can be found in many different factors: from being in a very congested area to our mobile needing a reboot to be able to return to normal, among many other things.

In the case of O2, the blue operator has on its website a series of tips that we can use when we notice some problems related to our mobile network. Although at first they may seem simple, the reality is that all of them are very effective for rule out major problems with our line.

Initial checks

O2 recommends that we check that we have notairplane mode activated and that, through carelessness, we have forgotten to deactivate it. This is common when we have low battery and we want to save some autonomy to use it later or if we have a poorly configured shortcut that we have pressed without realizing it.

Another explanation may be that our smartphone is having some problem to detect the network. To fix it, just turn off the device and remove your SIM. After a few seconds, you will have to insert the SIM again and turn on the device. In a few minutes you will know if you have solved the problem or if you need more help.

Finally, it may also be due to the fact that we have not inserted the SIM correctly. Check that the size of the SIM is compatible with our smartphone and that it is correctly placed in the terminal. Otherwise, this could be the reason why we have no coverage. Regarding the SIM, it may also happen that it is not operational. Something that is common if we have recently changed the SIM. To clear up any doubts, a call to 1551 is all we need for the O2 agents to check that the line is indeed correctly activated.

Network selection

If all of the above is not enough, the only thing left to do is to force our device to select the O2 coverage network manually. In this case, we will have to go to the settings of our mobile phone and access the “Wireless connections” menu and then “Mobile networks”. In the “Network operators” tab, we have to select “Search for networks manually”.

In the list of networks that will appear, we must select the O2 network or, failing that, Movistar. Once selected, try to make a call to check that you already have coverage and that everything is working correctly. If this is not the case, the only thing left to do is to contact the operator so that they can analyse the status of our line. Perhaps there is a general problem that is making it difficult to connect to the network and that can explain the situation. Remember that you can contact O2 either through 1551 or through their social networks, such as X.
