It may not have happened to you, but many Santander bank customers are reporting problems with duplicate charges on their bank accounts. Luckily, the entity confirms that it is a problem in its computer systems that is causing users to see some of their payments in two.

No, they have not charged you for two. It is a computer error by Santander, as they already claim from their X account: “a display error.” And there are several users on this social network who report this same problem, in addition to the fact that many raised their hands when they thought that everything was the fault of a possible hack of the banking entity.

Luckily, and for the peace of mind of the users of this bank, this is not any type of cyber attack that affects the balances of their accounts. It is all an error that has occurred in the computer systems that the bank has. Therefore, the balance in question does not have to be different, but the correct one must appear in the users’ application even if duplicate charges are shown.

It’s just a mistake

It has not yet been solved, but Santander Bank is working on it, as they say through their X account: «Good morning, our teams are working to solve the incident. This is just a display error. Your account balance is correct. Sorry for the disturbances”. In any case, if you are one of the clients affected by this problem, don’t worry, because it is not any type of cyber attack on this entity.

That clients see more than one duplicate charge is just an error because the bank suffered a problem in its computer systems last night. Hence, many users woke up today, Friday, March 1, with double charges in their bank accounts, although it is only a specific incident due to the computer system.

In any case, the account balances, as confirmed by Santander in different responses via Twitter, have not been affected as such. So it is only a problem in viewing the users’ bank accounts.

The important thing about all this is that the balance of the accounts remains the same, so it is not a cyber attack, and all because if it were a hack, the bank has the obligation to notify the financial supervisors.

Therefore, it is possible that from early in the morning you will see on Twitter (X) more than one complaint from clients of this bank after seeing this error in their checking accounts. And, although this error has not been reported on the official account on this social network, you can see how the ‘Santander España Responde’ account is responding to users who claim to have suffered this particular problem. However, some users already report that these types of duplicate charges have been disappearing.
