Smart TVs have become our favourite entertainment centre. Not only because they allow us to enjoy our favourite films or series in streaming, but also because they allow us to play music online, play video games… everything. However, there are TV features that not everyone knows about, such as a physical button that can get us out of a tight spot, both when the TV is malfunctioning and when we can’t find the remote control.

In older televisions it was a classic button, but in recent years the TV button has taken a backseat. However, that doesn’t mean it isn’t there. You just have to know where to look, because at some point you’ll surely find it useful. And even though remote controls make it so easy for us, or even apps that make mobile phones work as remote controls, it doesn’t hurt to know about these types of physical alternatives that are very helpful.

Your TV has a physical button

Many people think it has disappeared over the years, but the truth is that it is still there. You just have to know where it is. Depending on the brand and model you have, it may be in one part of the TV or another. Don’t worry, because there are many manufacturers that still have it, from Samsung, Sony to Panasonic, Xiaomi… among many other brands.

Typically, they are in an area that goes completely unnoticed. This is why many people think that TVs no longer have physical buttons as such. However, you only have to look closely to find out where it is, as it allows you to perform a series of basic actions that can be very helpful, for example, when you don’t know where the remote control is or the TV has been blocked.

To give you an idea, on some Sony Smart TVs it is on the back. Specifically, you can find up to three physical buttons: on/off, channel change and to adjust the volume. So it is much more than just turning off the TV. On other models of this brand they may be more hidden, right where all the connections are.

Although, as we said, this is not something exclusive to Sony. It can also be found on other televisions that offer this series of basic functions. So here is a quick summary of where you might find this physical button on your TV:

  • Samsung: They are usually found in fairly discreet areas of the TV so that they are not noticeable, so they may be on the lower front frame of the TV or on the back.
  • LG: Right where the LED light on the TV is, you will find a small physical button that will allow you to turn the TV on/off and access the menu.
  • Xiaomi: can usually be found at the bottom right of the TV.
  • Panasonic: These are usually several buttons with different functions, and are located on one side of the back of the televisions.

Therefore, this type of button is not only used to turn the TV on or off, it is also often used to control the Smart TV in those moments when the remote control does not work for any reason or even to get the TV working again if it gets blocked at any time.
