Is it a good business to consider succeeding as an influencer on Twitter? One of YouTube’s superstars is already benefiting from X’s new payment system and has decided to speak publicly about the income she is earning. And yes, she will surprise you what she tells.

Twitter’s intentions are clear: according to Elon Musk, the social network wants to become the destination for influencers to cash in thanks to the trend set by their posts. There are different methods for this and, on paper, it seems to look good. But perhaps the reality is not as positive as it might seem. KSI, one of YouTube’s superstars, has talked about this in one of the latest videos on the Impaulsive video podcast that we leave attached in the following paragraph.

very little money

Let’s put ourselves in situation first. KSI is more of a youtuber than a tweeter, that’s for sure, but it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have great success on the platform now known as X. He has almost 9 million followers on his Twitter account and his posts are quite frequent. Every time he posts something on his wall, he manages to rack up a huge amount of views.

On a monthly basis, his Twitter posts add up to millions of impressions. It should be enough to get you a good sum of money. But, as KSI has confessed, what she has gotten for a month’s work has been only $1,590. Although the amount may seem high to you, because it is much more than any of us could get on Twitter no matter how much we publish at all times, the truth is that for an influencer it is not that high.

Is there a trick on Twitter?

The most important of all this is how KSI refers to the way in which they have been disappointed to see their income and compare it with what began to appear, with great fanfare, when X announced that it began to pay tweeters. In those first publications that we all remember, because they served to announce something that would give the social network a lot of popularity, much higher figures were talked about. So high that, in some cases, they exceeded tens of thousands of dollars.

Those first screenshots that circulated quickly seem, therefore, to be a bait for more people to subscribe to the verification service. Because, of course, to be able to enter the X creators program you need to be verified. The move could have gone really well for the platform, getting a multitude of users, lower-ranking influencers, to verify themselves. Many of them, in the short term, may not make much of a profit, but they will be increasing the volume of people who are verified. And that, right now, is what worries the business managed by Elon Musk the most.

Compared to what he gets on YouTube for the same number of views, KSI reckons the revenue is light years ahead of what he’s gotten on Twitter. On the video platform, he manages to accumulate hundreds of thousands of dollars that have helped him establish a solid career both in the entertainment sector and in other businesses. We must not forget that KSI, apart from his channel, is a businessman who has a brand of energy drinks together with the famous Logan Paul, a youtuber who has redirected his career towards the WWE Pressing Catch.

the real reason

In reality, what KSI may not know is that there is a reason why you might not be making as much money as you expect. The reason is that payments on Twitter are made in a totally different way than what happens on YouTube. In X, only views made by users who are subscribed to the service and have the check mark count. Therefore, the millions of impacts that your tweets have are not real, but only a part of them is generating income for you.

Why were the first captures so conspicuous and represented by such large amounts of money? That is something that you should ask Elon Musk. Those accounts may have a higher volume of followers than are subscribers, or it may be something that has been tampered with. Time will tell!
