The Fire Sticks, players that allow you to use streaming platforms such as Netflix, Max or Prime Video on televisions that are not smart, now have a new base model that will most likely be announced in Spain shortly.
After announcing the launch of four new Kindle readers a few days ago, Amazon has launched another new product this time within its Smart TV devices section. The American company is going to start selling a new Fire Stick, this time with the HD nickname in its name, with which it will replace the two most basic Fire Stick models that currently exist: the Fire TV Stick Lite and the Fire TV Stick.
Amazon is expected to run out of stock of the current Fire TV Stick Lite and TV Stick and then stop selling them until they are completely replaced by this new Fire TV Stick HD, which simplifies the product family by leaving it in 3 versions, more basic to more premium, as follows: Fire TV Stick HD, Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Cube.
So, how is Amazon’s new player different from the others? Well, comparing it with the basic model that it replaces at the same price, the Fire TV Stick Lite, very little. However, it represents a relevant improvement for buyers. This is because the new model includes a function that until now was reserved for the intermediate TV Stick model, which could not be used by those who bought the cheapest version, the Lite. We talk about television controls.
The Lite model, although it does include Alexa, did not have buttons to control the entire television with the Amazon remote. That is, you couldn’t turn the TV on or off, nor could you raise or lower the volume. Now, and for the same price that the Lite cost (34.99 euros), we can obtain this function that, although it may seem trivial, adds much greater comfort. Apart from this, it also changes the design of the controller very slightly.
The bottom line is that, having the same price as the Lite, new buyers will get more than before, and if you were considering buying one of these devices, you should wait for Amazon Spain to introduce the new model on the platform.
Technical characteristics
What this new TV Stick includes is video playback in HD (1080p), and compatibility with high dynamic range technologies HDR, HDR 10, HDR10+, and HLG. In connectivity, it includes WiFi 5, Bluetooth LE and Bluetooth 5.0. It is powered by a quad-core processor with a speed of 1.7 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of disk storage, an adequate amount of space considering that the use of this product is oriented almost exclusively to streaming.
It includes Alexa (which already included the Lite model) and allows the use of video games through Amazon’s Luna service, although it remains to be seen if the device is capable of running games fluently.
You also have to remember what it does not have: Dolby Atmos audio, Dolby Vision HDR and 4K resolution are excluded, features that are reserved for its higher models, the 4K TV Stick and the Fire TV Cube.
