Visiting Apple Haarlem: address and parking
The Apple Store of Haarlem is located in a car-free zone, in one of the main shopping streets in Haarlem. This is the adress:
Apple Harlem
Grote Houtstraat 99
2011 SH Haarlem
Parking is possible at various places in the area. Apple recommends parking garage De Kamp (De Witstraat 1) a 6-minute walk away. We prefer the newer parking garage Raaks (Zijlvest 45), a 7-minute walk away, with more capacity and more spacious spaces. You pay around 3 euros per hour at both parking garages. Short-term street parking is also possible in nearby streets for a fee (also on Sundays).
Public transport is also possible. The Connexxion buses stop at the ‘Centrum/Verwulft’ stop on Gedempte Oude Gracht and the Arriva buses stop at the Stadsschouwburg stop on Wilhelminastraat. Haarlem railway station is a 20-minute walk away.
Why visit Apple Store Haarlem?
Apple Haarlem is one of the smaller Apple Stores. The shop is housed in an existing brick block and has no particular architectural features. This Apple Store does not yet have a Video Wall with Forum and is not yet equipped with the new design. At the back of the store you will find a Genius Bar.
Nevertheless, it can be interesting to visit the Apple Store in Haarlem, for example because you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the big city or because Haarlem has regularly been voted the best shopping city in the Netherlands. Or simply because you want to see and photograph all Apple Stores in the Netherlands. We understand that.
Despite the fact that this is not a flagship store, you can still go there for all Apple products and services, such as buying accessories, following workshops and having repairs carried out.
Opening Apple Haarlem
The Apple Store in Haarlem was opened on December 7, 2013. Initially it did not lead to long queues. At 6:00 am there were only 8 people in line and crush barriers were not necessary at that time. It didn’t get busier until after 8:00 AM, with about 100 people in line. Apple handed out black t-shirts with the inscription Haarlem to the first 1,000 visitors.
The day before the opening, the wooden barrier had been removed and it was possible to peek in through the cracks. We published some photos of the interior.
History of Apple Haarlem
Like most other Apple Stores, it had an interesting history. In February 2013, vacancies appeared on the Apple website for a possible Apple Store in Haarlem. On iCulture we already wrote in February 2013 that the Apple Store would be located at Grote Houtstraat 99, which turned out to be correct.
Apple Premium Reseller iCentre announced to leave Haarlem to avoid direct competition with Apple. Later confidential sources told iCulture that the Apple Store would open before Christmas. Indeed, Apple confirmed that the store opening was scheduled for December 7.
Less than a month after the official opening, this Apple Store was already the target of a ram raid. Criminals rammed the facade with a car, which was severely damaged. The thieves only managed to take a few demo iPads.
In December 2019, another burglary took place, during which two product tables were emptied.
