Audi does not accept orders for plug-in hybrids due to the war in Ukraine. The German firm is experiencing constant interruptions in the production chain.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is completely disrupting European markets, not only in fuel, but also in car production. One of the brands that has been affected by the war in Ukraine is Audi, which does not accept orders for its plug-in hybrid cars due to constant interruptions in the production chain.

As reported by Automobilewoche, Audi will continue to receive orders for plug-in hybrid vehicles until March 10, after which time it will stop manufacturing due to supply problems caused by the conflict in Ukraine.

“Due to high demand, as well as some restrictions caused by the supply situation, the current production volume is already sold out for Audi plug-in hybrid models by 2022,” a company spokesperson told the German publication.

But these versions will not be the only cars affected by production stoppages due to supply shortages. Audi will stop production of the A4 and A5 from March 7 to 11, and that of the A6 and A7 between March 7 and 18. These pauses are added to others of the Volkswagen Group, such as those of the Porsche and Volkswagen brand, which are reducing production in Germany.

The delicate situation caused by the Russian invasion in Ukraine is causing a series of problems in the supply chain, with reports suggesting that it has affected the stock of wiring harnesses used to organize the hundreds of meters of cables that allow the modern vehicles.

Many manufacturers were supplied by a company in western Ukraine, which closed after the Russian invasion. In addition to problems with the supply of components, many brands are stopping selling vehicles in Russia, a decision that follows a series of sanctions implemented by Europe and the United States in response to Russian military action.
