That the community is not happy with Windows 11 and that they miss the operating system having a different style is an open secret. Because of this, there are users who are trying to give the platform a facelift by creating their own versions. The last one to see the light is Windows 11 Government Edition and it has become a sensation.
What should Windows 11 be like to become an ideal operating system? Microsoft would have to make a lot of changes and adjustments, especially if it had the goal of keeping all users happy (something practically impossible). In Windows 11 Government Edition we find an important change in focus that is committed to, among other things, simplifying the operating system.
Removing all the “filler”
Andy Kirby explains in X that this version of Windows 11 Government Edition stands out, above all, for the elimination of telemetry components and a multitude of applications. In particular, what it has done is free the platform from Microsoft’s own apps, those that we are normally forced to have and that we are not given the option to delete.
In addition to this, the second big change that this version of the platform has is that all restrictions at the hardware level have been eliminated. It is, in that sense, a dream come true for many users. But, on the other hand, it is also a very distant approach to what it could be possible for us to see in the future from Microsoft. After all, the entity would never accept some of the changes introduced in this Government Edition.
What did we find?
As you can imagine, access to Windows 11 Government Edition is not easy. It has only been distributed through file-sharing networks and may not be very safe to install either. But that still means that it is an interesting idea and that it brings to the table concepts that users would love to see in the official version of the operating system.
As you can see in some of the published screenshots of this version, the Start menu has been freed of most of its load. The recent items section is removed and the number of apps listed is also drastically reduced. Many programs that are mandatory in Windows 11 such as the Edge browser or Microsoft Defender Antivirus have disappeared from this installation, while other applications remain, including Windows Backup.
Another significant change is that, as we said, there are no hardware limitations of any kind. This means that this version of Windows 11 can be installed on any computer, regardless of whether it is an older computer. However, you also don’t know if the performance of this version of Windows will be convenient or if it will cause problems due to being used on computers that do not have the appropriate hardware. In general, this type of feature is a dream, but it possibly has many disadvantages.
As experts say, although Windows 11 Government Edition has some interesting aspects to take into account, the reality is that it is not advisable for us to go after this version of the operating system. It would not be the first time that this type of files that circulate on document sharing networks have malware or cause problems in their installation. If you are very curious, it is best to install it on a computer that you do not have to worry about and where you can do tests without any fear. And of course, as much as it has that name, this version has nothing to do with the government. Maybe they could have chosen another name.
