Imagine what could be the most watched series on DTT and the one that achieves extremely high audience levels even when the episodes are repeated. Now he thinks that it may become the target of a remake. And the best thing is that not only has it been announced, but filming has already begun, so we will be guaranteed to be left, at the very least, with our mouths open.
Spain has had many series that have made history and, above all, have managed to overcome the borders of other countries. In proportion to the United States, however, much less. But those that hit hard internationally end up becoming great projects. In the past, Here there is no one who lives had remakes in different countries and now it is the turn of The one that is coming.
The one that is coming in Portuguese version
At the time of Here There Is No One Lives, a Portuguese version of the series was already produced, as well as many other international editions of which videos circulate on the Internet. In all of them the spirit of the Desengaño 21 building was maintained, but adapting the characters and their stories to the social situations of each of the regions. Although none of them achieved the same success as Here There Is No One Lives in Spain, they did enjoy a certain fame.
Therefore, it is not surprising that now it is the turn of The one that is coming. Of course, its adaptation in Portuguese will have a noticeable difference with the Spanish version: the duration of the episodes. A sitcom format will be adopted with chapters of about 20-30 minutes to move away from the Spanish concept of a minimum of 1 hour in duration to which we are accustomed. And the truth is that it is not such a bad idea!
A remake that aims high
Portugal, fortunately, is a country that we have next to us and with which we share many things. For this reason, the Portuguese remake of The One Is Coming will not be as complicated as if it were to be carried out in the United States, where it would be obvious that many things would have to change. However, no details have yet been provided about the changes that will be implemented or the characters that will appear, although the names of some actors have been revealed.
Taking into account that the Portuguese remake of The one that is coming, which will be titled Os Vizinhos, is likely not to arrive in our country, the importance of this news is something else. On the one hand, the confirmation of the success of a Spanish fiction production that, on the other hand, is usually among the most viewed on the streaming platforms where it runs freely. And, on the other hand, this would bring us closer to an American remake that, although with those differences that we mentioned, could be the bomb. Imagine the sitcom version of The one that is coming with some other actor that you identify. Cast Steve Carell as Enrique Pastor and imagine what can come out of there.
For now, better not to think about it too much. What we are preparing for in our land is for season 15 of The one that is coming, for which there is still time.
