The Challenger is nicknamed ‘The Black Ghost’ and is known for its performance in the early 1970s Detroit street racing scene. She was originally purchased by a police officer and has remained in the same family until now, changing hands following last week’s auction.
His exploits in street racing events are many in stories, though he was primarily known for occasionally appearing on the streets of Detroit to race before disappearing into the night. This earned him the nickname ‘Black Ghost’,
Plus, it’s one of only 23 Challenger R/Ts with the HEMI engine and four-speed manual transmission built by Dodge in 1970. It only has 45,000 miles driven in the past half-century, and it’s in original, unrestored condition.
In addition, it is a really famous vehicle in the American automotive scene. It won the ‘Spirit of Detroit’ award from the Concours d’Elegance of America in Michigan and has even been displayed in a glass case in 2021.
The intention of its new owner is to keep the car in its current state, although it has already been announced that it will be thoroughly cleaned to keep it safe.
