The video shared by the Azov Battalion, which shows the moment in which they defeat a group of the Russian offensive, spreads across the network. In the images you can see the entire process, in which different Ukrainian units work together to seize one of the powerful tanks of the rival side. The maneuver has made Ukraine regain its morale.
Russia has hundreds of tanks. Having lost a unit will mean nothing to them. But for the Ukrainian soldiers it is a victory that has restored their confidence. Although their situation is delicate, they now have in their hands one of the T-72B3M tanks, an already classic model in the repertoire of weapons used by the Russian side in combat.
A tank for Ukraine
Considering that Ukraine is going through a disastrous moment in terms of ammunition possession, any resource they can add to their ranks ends up being welcome. Sabotaging a Russian operation and ending up leaving it with one of its rivals’ tanks seems like a complicated plan, but that is what the Ukrainian soldiers have done in the last few hours.
The result of this maneuver is the video in question that has gone around the world through Telegram and that Ukraine is interested in seeing on the entire network. Because what they do is demonstrate the result of collaboration between several of their units to achieve a common objective. We leave you the video embedded in this same news in view of the fact that it has already arrived on YouTube.
Maneuver by land and air
The moment the Ukrainian scouts detected that there was a large group of Russian forces approaching the Kreminna area, they decided to act quickly. They launched the members of the Azov Battalion, and also the 95th Ukrainian Air Assault Brigade, the latter being the one that is always called upon when rapid reaction missions are necessary. Because, after all, that was exactly what was needed: to act very quickly.
The two units got to work and managed to repel the Russian advance with a level of precision that possibly surprised the rival side. The tanks ended up being inefficient given how they used attack drones and different types of explosives. Shortly after the start of the skirmish, the Russian soldiers had to abandon their vehicles and escape to safety from enemy fire. As mentioned from Ukraine, they not only captured the tank, but also ended up with a multitude of Russian components and materials.
That being said, let’s talk about the tank. The T-72B3M could be said to be the main tank of the Russian army, a powerful combat vehicle that has been updated and improved over the years. The latest revisions have been carried out taking into account the needs of the conflict in Ukraine, which is why Russia has high confidence in these tanks.
Among its weapons and technology, this tank has a multi-channel sight model PNM Sosna-U, which includes a Thales Catherine FC thermal camera system and a system that deals with automatic target tracking. Other components include a TVN-5 observation system and TKN-3MK sight. It is a tank, as we indicated, with high performance, great power and that provides confidence, but in this case, the Ukrainian maneuver surprised the Russian soldiers and they had no opportunity to stop them.
As we say, it has been a psychological victory that has increased the fighting spirit and resistance of the Ukrainian soldiers. It also remains to be seen what use they make of the tank beyond using it as a way to boost morale among those who side with Ukraine. For Russia, for its part, the loss of this tank does not make a big difference in view of the thousands of units they have.
