Vodafone continues to add good news. In this case, the operator has managed to sign a high-class agreement with which it demonstrates that it is strengthening its income very well and that will provide it with almost 2 million euros. Furthermore, it is an important step forward when it comes to maintaining the good trajectory they are following.
Vodafone Spain had already mentioned their intention to increase the clients they provide services to and the different projects in which they are involved. The company is giving a good demonstration of how to turn the business around and the positive news continues to come. In this case, as we read in El Español, the operator has signed a contract with the Military Emergency Unit (UME) of the Armed Forces.
A deployable private 5G network
That is the task that the UME has given to Vodafone, the provision of a 5G network that they can use with maximum efficiency and that becomes a valuable resource at their disposal. More precisely, the objective is for the LCIF (Forest Fire Fighting) to use this network, a unit for which having a solid 5G communication network is essential. By Vodafone guaranteeing that they will have 5G coverage at all times, the professionals in this unit will be able to do their work better and apply the necessary efforts more effectively when putting out forest fires.
In total, the EMU will pay 1.8 million euros to Vodafone. It will be the way in which you will ensure that this private 5G network that Vodafone will provide is foolproof and that you can use it at any time. More precisely, it is specified that this network will be deployed, either totally or partially, on a public PLNM type network. Based on these contract specifications, Vodafone can now begin work to provide the network to the UME as requested.
What else does the contract include?
The UME has already communicated to Vodafone the needs they have, and as they indicate, they go beyond having quality communication in the most complex situations. The entity says that the network provided by Vodafone will have to assure the members of this unit that they will have the ability to connect in any emergency situation either to the private network or to the public 5G network that already exists. The goal is, one way or another, for the 5G connection to be enabled. And, once connected, they must be sure that this network allows them to take advantage of a high quality connection, since they will need to transmit videos, data and all types of images.
This will allow the work carried out in the area of operations to not leave any details up in the air and for the professionals who act to put out the fires to have everything they need. In addition to the 5G network, the contract signed with Vodafone includes other elements that the operator will have to provide. This is the case of 100 rugged smartphones, which are the mobile phones that have a greater capacity to withstand adverse conditions. They will be the ideal mobile phones to be used during fires. These devices will include SIM cards that Vodafone will have to provide and, in the lot, 10 tablets have also been included.
Aside from all this, Vodafone also has to deliver a captive drone to the UME. This is a type of unit that will be installed in the UME car and will serve to increase the coverage area used by the new private 5G network. The installation will require Vodafone to place a cable from the drone to the vehicle and thus guarantee that it will have power at all times to be able to boost the 5G network. As can be seen, the UME wants to ensure, as much as possible, that the connection it will have in times of emergency will be the best possible.
In the award of this contract, Vodafone has managed to surpass two other proposals that had been made to the UME. According to the information published, the operator would have offered the best quality-price ratio.
