F1 driver Yuki Tsunoda has taken to the streets to help clean up the Italian city of Faenza, which has been badly affected by heavy rain and flooding in the Emilia Romagna region. The Japanese resides in Faenza, which is where the headquarters of his AlphaTauri team (formerly Toro Rosso) are also located.
A terrible storm has hit northern Italy in recent days, causing torrential rains and flooding in the region, leading thousands of people to have to leave their homes to protect their own safety. Sadly, several people have lost their lives.
Numerous cities have been totally devastated, with landslides, rivers overflowing and leaving mud on the streets. The material damage is incalculable and the roads in the area are impassable.
Faced with this situation, the competent authorities were forced to suspend the Imola Grand Prix last Tuesday, because the paddock was in a very complicated situation – it flooded on Tuesday and had to be evacuated – and the roads were not going to be in good shape for the weekend, when thousands of fans were scheduled to attend.

In the region most affected by the rains is the headquarters of the AlphaTauri team – in Faenza, just a few kilometers from Imola -, and one of its pilots, the Japanese Yuki Tsunoda, also lives there. Neither he nor several members of the Italian team have hesitated to take to the streets to lend a hand to their fellow citizens in this terrible situation.
Another of the teams that is located in Emilia Romagna, Ferrari, has made a donation of 1 million euros to help the recovery of the region.
Formula 1 staff will now have to dismantle the material that was already at the Imola Circuit in order to move it to Monaco, where the premier class will compete next week. The organizer of the Imola GP, for its part, has already announced that it will return the money for the tickets to the fans or they will validate them for a ticket for 2024.
