It arrives in September.

Kia had been preparing the staging of the new Kia XCeed 2022 for some time, a facelift for the Korean crossover, which is updated with more technological equipment and a new GT-Line finish available.

As usual in the sector, Kia has updated one of its most important products when it reaches the middle of its commercial cycle.

With this restyling, the Korean brand seeks to give a significant boost to sales in a model that accumulated more than 51,000 units in the last year.

The main novelties of the jacket version of the Kia Ceed focus mainly on the aesthetic section and on the technological equipment. Something that is not surprising, since it is where generalist brands try to make a difference, compared to their competitors.

As it is not a completely new model, the aesthetic changes of the new Kia XCeed are not very noticeable, but it does differ from the model it replaces. For example, by introducing restyled headlights, with integrated fog lights, as well as a new bumper and a different grille.

In the bumpers, it is worth highlighting the new air intakes to improve aerodynamics, an important aspect in a vehicle that is clearly committed to electrification, as you will see later.

In the side view we find new 18-inch wheels, while the rear sports a new diffuser with a gloss black protector and new exhaust outlets, as well as LED optics with a new interior architecture.

One of the great novelties of the Kia crossover is the new GT-Line trim level, which brings out the sportier and more dynamic side of the Korean model.

This new variant adds specific design elements, such as a front bumper and a diffuser, as well as exclusive interior finishes that accentuate the sporty character of this version, such as a flattened steering wheel, a black roof liner, a perforated leather and sports seats.

more technological

Inside, the changes are much more subtle in terms of design, but more evident in terms of technological equipment. Nowadays, cars must include all kinds of gadgets and screens, the bigger the better. And in Kia they have taken note of it.

The new XCeed 2022 incorporates the latest version of the Kia Connect system, supported by a 10.25-inch screen that presides over the center of the dashboard in the most equipped versions and gives access to numerous connectivity services, such as planning trips in advance, sending navigation data from your mobile or locate the vehicle if you forgot where you left it parked.

The access versions will have a 5 or 8-inch screen. It also features a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and new USB-C charging ports, both front and rear.

More space for passengers

The new Kia XCeed has been designed to achieve the cabin and boot space of a higher-segment model, within a sportier, more compact body. Situated between the five-door Ceed and the Kia Sportage, the Kia XCeed offers generous interior space for front and rear occupants.

With hip height raised by up to 44mm in each seat, relative to the Ceed five-door, drivers have a higher driving position, as well as greater ease of entry and exit.

The crescent-shaped glass area and sloping roofline provide rear passengers with a brighter, more open environment and more headroom than rivals in the compact crossover class.

The boot capacity of the new Kia XCeed reaches 426 liters (VDA), which can be increased to 1,378 liters by folding down the rear seats.

electrified motors

For some time, Kia is clearly committed to the electrification of its engines and this is clearly seen in the nuvo XCeed. The range is structured in three gasoline options, one diesel and one plug-in hybrid. Both gasoline and diesel include a 48-volt light hybridization system.

The first gasoline engine available is a 1.0 T-GDi with three cylinders, turbo and 120 hp and 172 Nm of torque. The second is a 1.5 T-GDi with four cylinders and 160 hp and, finally, a 1.6 T-GDi with 204 hp and 265 Nm of torque. The diesel variant has a 1.6 CRDi block with 136 hp and 320 Nm.

Depending on the version, the transmission can be manual or automatic with double clutch with six relationships. In all cases, the traction is front.

Finally, the XCeed plug-in hybrid PHEV uses a 1.6 gasoline engine with an electric one, plus an 8.9 kWh battery. It develops a total power of 141 hp and 265 Nm and declares an electric range of 48 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.

The Korean brand has confirmed that the new Kia XCeed 2022 will arrive in Europe in September, although it has not yet communicated prices. The new crossover will be produced at the plant in Slovakia.
