Starlink continues to roll out new features in its service in Spain, in this case with the arrival of the famous third generation kit, which is now available for new hires. At the same time, the previous model receives a discount that will make it, perhaps, a good entry opportunity for users who are interested in this satellite Internet service.

The third generation Starlink kit was already talked about last year and, until now, what we were waiting for was for it to land in our country. The good news is that users who contract the service at this time can now access it as an option in conjunction with the Standard motorized model, which now has a lower price.

Better capacity and less weight

This new version of the kit comes with a series of important changes compared to the previous generation model. The highlight is that you go from having a WiFi 5 router to a WiFi 6 model, with everything that entails. The design has also been revised and now it has a weight of 2.9 kg or 3.2 kg if we add the support, remaining below the previous version. Its dimensions, for their part, are 383 x 594 x 39.7 mm, with IP67 type 4 certification. Thanks to this certification, you will be sure that the antenna will resist contact with dust and water much better than previous models.

Speaking of the router, it has 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax technology, Tri Band 4 x 4 MU-MIMO radio and a total of two Ethernet LAN ports that have a removable cover design. The router’s capacity is up to 297 m², but it has the advantage of being able to use mesh nodes to avoid limitations and increase its range possibilities. Of course, it should be noted that it only offers compatibility with those mesh nodes from Starlink itself, which can be both Gen 2 and Gen 3. As for the support provided, it is compatible with up to a total of three mesh nodes.

What price does it have?

If you go to the Starlink website and start the hiring process you will see the different options available to you. As usual, you will have to enter your address and then click on “Order now”. This will confirm that you have access to the service and, from that point, you will have the option to request the antenna equipment you are interested in having.

You can find the new model as “Standard” equipment at a price of 349 euros. In addition, you have the option of adding different accessories for an additional price, such as the rotating support for 110 euros, the wall support for 98 euros or the tube adapter for 66 euros, among other options.

Making the purchase of the third generation Starlink kit

As you can see, the Ethernet adapter is no longer available (only for the previous generation), since the inclusion of the ports directly on the router prevents you from having to get it. This is good news, since you save 40 euros compared to what you had to pay previously. In addition to this, of course, you have the possibility of choosing the satellite Internet service you want: Standard for 40 euros or Basic for a monthly cost of 29 euros.

If you do not want the latest model and are interested in the motorized Standard, what you will have to pay will be 249 euros. However, it will be necessary to assume that you will enjoy inferior technology, since you will only have WiFi 5 and other limitations, such as what was mentioned about the Ethernet ports. To all of the above, we will have to add 10 euros for shipping and management that will be charged at the time of the request.
