That operators continue to extend their fiber optic networks is very good news. That is why the data that has just been published on the work carried out by one of the entities present in Spain is so positive. Little by little, support is being provided so that more and more homes have the opportunity to enjoy high-speed Internet connection levels.
In Spain there are more than 47 million people and, as you already know, not all of them live in the main cities. The rural environment is fundamental when it comes to understanding our country, but, sometimes, it can be left out of the services enjoyed in large cities. That is why it is such good news that operators like Adamo are expanding their services.
Fiber optics in rural areas
Adamo became known at the time for betting on bringing fiber optics to rural regions that, previously, this type of connection did not reach. This is a different type of bet, but it has been proven that it can give very good results. And with the latest data published by the operator we can confirm that this expansion they are carrying out does not stop.
Thus, they reveal that they have deployed a total of 13,000 kilometers of their optical fiber, which has allowed them to increase coverage in 540,000 more homes in 2023. With these figures they position themselves very firmly in the Spanish market and are already supporting almost 3 million homes.
Taking fiber throughout Spain
At the moment, as we indicated, they are covering 2.7 million homes in Spain and, as mentioned, most of them correspond to rural areas. This is the same thing that has happened in the 2023 expansion, work that focused mainly on those places where there are low population levels, but where they can also benefit greatly from fiber.
According to their statistics, in 2023 they will have brought fiber optics to 1,774 locations corresponding to Spanish territory. A good part, a total of 582 locations, are in Castilla y León, where the volume of expansion that Adamo has carried out is worthy of mention. The second area with the most added zones is Catalonia with 380, which is not bad either, while Navarra is in third position with 149.
The list continues with Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha with 141 locations each, Cantabria with 95 and the Valencian Community with 76 that have been incorporated with respect to the work carried out previously. As is easy to imagine, the greater the number of locations covered, the greater the volume of fiber optics that has had to be deployed throughout the territory. Thus, Adamo mentions that to cover the news in Castilla y León and Galicia they had to use around 5,000 kilometers in total, at a rate of 3,000 for the first region and 2,000 in the second.
One of the positive aspects of Adamo is that, beyond offering a service in an environment that is sometimes difficult to benefit from other operators, they have different complementary proposals. For example, special offers for people who are already over 65 years old or a television package that, for only 3 euros, includes more than 100 channels. Furthermore, as is tradition in all operators in the country, they have different promotions and offers that rotate so that their customers can take advantage of discounts. At the same time, they also offer mobile phone service and not just fiber optics. They even have a referral program so that their clients can have discounts on their bills, so it can be seen that they are covering all the most common initiatives in the sector.
