Microsoft has been one of the first manufacturers to take full advantage of AI, a technology that has become ubiquitous in 2024 and that improves people’s daily lives. From automating tasks to personalizing experiences, AI is transforming the way we interact with technology, whether it’s a mobile or a computer.

In this regard, Microsoft’s Windows operating system can boast of masterfully integrating AI to offer a revolutionary computing experience, especially through tools such as Copilot, formerly known as Bing Chat. With its ability to offer intelligent suggestions and improve productivity, Copilot has become a valuable companion for anyone involved in software development in the Windows ecosystem.

This smart companion is not only designed to make us more efficient, but also seeks to facilitate our work with some of the most used Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and even in search engines like Bing and Windows itself.

What can Copilot do for you?

In essence, Copilot acts as a virtual assistant that is always ready to help us carry out our tasks faster and more effectively. Imagine working on a document in Word and getting stuck on a section. This is where Copilot comes in: it gives you suggestions on how to continue or improve what you’ve already written.

The same is true in Excel, where it can help you complete complex formulas, or in PowerPoint, where it offers you ideas to improve your presentation. And when it comes to Outlook, Copilot can streamline the email writing process, offering text suggestions and helping you be more concise and effective in your communication.

Even during virtual meetings in Teams, Copilot can summarize key points and offer you suggestions on how to handle conversations more effectively.

But let’s not just stop at apps and office programs. If you want, you can create complex images by giving the Windows AI a series of instructions, ask it for any information, ask it to help you cook by guiding you step by step in all types of recipes and countless other situations.

The special power of using Copilot on Windows is that it allows us to change operating system settings in a blink of an eye, such as switching to dark mode, setting the volume level, reading incoming notifications, or turning on Do Not Disturb mode. You can also ask it to summarize text you select on the Windows desktop.

How to use Copilot

If you have Windows 11, you’ll see the Copilot icon in the bottom left corner of your screen. Just click on it and you can access all its useful features. You can also find it on Bing and in all Microsoft 365 apps, such as Word and Outlook. It is always just a click away, ready to help you at any time.

Similarly, you can enter the Copilot website, where you can use add-ons, such as those from OpenTable for making restaurant reservations and Kayak for searching and booking travel. You can choose up to three add-ons to be active with your Copilot session.

Beyond these options, soon most computers running Microsoft’s operating system, such as Lenovo laptops and computers, will have a key to enable this virtual assistant quickly and easily.

Plus, one of the best things about Copilot is how easy it is to use. You can ask it questions in natural language, just like you would if you were talking to a friend. Of course, it doesn’t do everything automatically; sometimes, you need to step in and do some things yourself. But overall, it makes your job a lot easier.

Free and for everyone

Microsoft Copilot is much more than just a tool; It is a digital companion that is there to help you in your daily journey. Whether you’re working on an important project or just need a little inspiration, Copilot is always available to help.

Please note that Copilot is free to use on the web, on Windows, in the Edge browser, and in the Copilot mobile apps.
